Janet Watson
Janet is a qualified accountant and insolvency professional with 30 years of experience, gaining her insolvency licence (UK) in 2001. Her insolvency career began with The Insolvency Service in the UK, which she acknowledges provided such extensive training and experience which allowed her to venture out into the private sector, where she ultimately became a partner in a boutique insolvency firm in London, which specialized in forensics and investigations.
During her career, she has dealt with wide-ranging types of insolvency cases including court and voluntary liquidations, administrations, receiverships, and voluntary arrangements, both corporate and personal. She also gained substantial experience in the field of compliance, regulation, inspections, and disciplinary matters working for all of the major RPBs and insolvency regulators in the UK.
As well as her insolvency experience, Janet’s specialisms include forensic investigations in fraud, tax fraud, anti-money laundering, corruption, proceeds of crime cases, asset recovery and tracing, disciplinary proceedings as well as in the preparation of matters for litigation. She has acted as an expert witness and as an intermediary in dispute resolution.
She has worked offshore for 9 nine years and has worked as a consultant and corporate recovery specialist on several cases in various jurisdictions, including Hong Kong, Cayman Islands and British Virgin Islands. She arrived in the BVI in 2017 as a Director at Krys Global, one week before Hurricane Irma, and joined Baker Tilly (BVI) Ltd. in April 2018 as Head of Restructuring & Insolvency.
